For me, each day brings something that inspires me to travel. Whether it’s a television show, movie, song, story, poem, picture, or video, I am always looking for the next place to day-dream about until I am able to actually visit. I would spend my life traveling the world if I could, and until that can happen, I surround myself with sounds and visuals that motivate me to get closer to that dream.

Since this is something I do on a daily basis, I thought that it might be fun for me to have an “Inspiration of the Week” on my blog. This will allow me to share what inspires me, while hopefully, inspiring you to leave the comforts of home and hit the road.

The first inspiration that I will share with you, is a video that I came across just yesterday. As usual, it made me just want to get out there and see it all…right now. I have been to many of the places in the video, and those that I haven’t been to are ones that are on my list, and it will happen, all in due time. But for now, this video is my escape.

  1. Brilliant video. I’m always on the lookout for videos like this, I love the transition into evening. I’m planning a sabbatical from teaching in 2013 and this provided a kick of inspiration.

      • Teaching Business/Enteprise (that’s what its called here in the UK). Yourself? I’m thinking of heading to South/Central America. This plan has been rumbling around in my head for about 14 months. I’ve spent 4 years teaching, I can just feel that it’s time. Any ideas on potential stops for your RTW?

The Eat, Move, Learn was amazing..unique concept. It’s funny, it really made me think of something a student said to me the other day while staring at a globe in the classroom –

‘Sir, you know what, the world is a really big place’

        It is indeed..

      • I teach 7th grade reading and writing. I have only been to Mexico in Central America, but I’m hoping to get to South America next summer. I think it sounds like a great plan! Any other stops along the way?

I’m not exactly sure where to yet, but I know that I want to go back to SE Asia, India, The Middle East, and Northern Africa. I feel that those can be combined too, so we’ll see what the next couple of years bring.

Love that series of videos – actually, I used that for my inspiration for this week. Can’t stop watching them!

Love what your student said, so true! Such a big place, which is exactly why I want to see it all! 🙂 Good luck with all of your travel plans and make sure to keep me updated!

      • Other stops possibly. I’ve been thinking this week, If I’m gonna leave my job and everything else, I may as well REALLY go for it. I mean how oftenwill this kind of opportunity come about? I’ve been toying with the idea SE Asia – I’ve always wanted to see Thailand/Laos/Japan, but South America to SE Asia…RTW? Is that even workable? I was thinking to combine the whole journey to coincide with the 2014 Brazil World Cup, that would mean setting off late 2013(ish)..

Your RTW sounds epic..and I guess that’s what a RTW should be, nothing less. The bigger question is, how will this RTW relate to our life as whole? new career, new direction or perhaps just a need for a break.

        Possibilities eh?
