Nha Trang: First Impressions

I’m in love with this beach town already. There’s a lot of energy and the views are incredible. We arrived after dark last night, around seven-thirty, and checked into our hotel, Novotel, located right across the street from the beach.

Not wanting to waste any time, we showered and headed out for drinks at the popular Sailing Club. This bar, popular with locals and tourists, is located right on the beach, with a dance floor and dj. You can choose to sit up by the dancefloor or down on the beach with your toes in the sand. We chose to have our drinks down in the sand overlooking the fire on the beach.

The mood is relaxed, with small groups of people gathered at tables lit up by lanterns. But, changes when you head to the dance floor that is full of energy.  Since we were exhausted from the bus ride earlier in the day, we kept it a relatively early night. But, we plan on stopping back for happy hour tonight.

We woke up this morning to an unbelievable view, and immediately went downstairs to book another night. We are truly enjoying this town already.

  1. I love Nha Trang, it is one of my favourite destinations in Vietnam! If you are still around you should eat at Le Petit Bistro (a few doors away from Why Not Bar), great food and not too expensive.

You should be careful in Nha Trang too as it is notorious for petty crime, possibly the worst in Vietnam for it. I wrote about it a while ago, might be useful if you are still there http://www.runawaybrit.com/2011/05/13/close-calls-in-nha-trang-vietnam/ The Sailing Club is great (amazing food and great cocktails) but they shortchanged a number of my friends, be particularly careful with 500,000vnd notes there. I personally never had a problem in issue but you need to be on your guard.

    Have a great time.
